| It's such a beautiful day. Gorgeous. I woke up feeling really good. I'm just appreciating all the little things in my life. Like my dog, and the seeds sprouting, and making coffee. See, I think like attracts like -- and when you focus on things that you love and appreciate them, it attracts more of the same. Likewise, if you were to focus on all the stuff that irritates you, you would feel worse and worse and the next thing you know, you're having "one of those days".
But I'm not having "one of those days". Actually I am -- I'm having one of those really really good days. And it's just going to keep getting better and better. Because like attracts like. Isn't that a great idea? I love that. I love that you can mold your experience just by paying attention to what you think about. I got up feeling refreshed, snuggled with my dog, enjoyed my coffee and did some reading, had a great shower in the sunshine, and put on an outfit that makes me feel gorgeous: grey pencil skirt and form-fitting baby blue sweater. High heels and all. A very 1950's secretary kind of ensemble. Can't write much more. I'm going to post my interview with author Kathleen O'Reilly and then I gotta run -- I have meetings all morning!

| Author Kathleen O'Reilly has a brand new book out today!
The Diva's Guide to Selling Your Soul
Some press:
"Very original, bitingly funny ... make sure not to miss this one!" – chicklitbooks.com
"The Diva's Guide is, as the Shangri-la's once sang, good-bad, not evil." – New York Times bestselling author and gossip columnist Michael Gross
About the book:
What would you sacrifice to be a size zero? For more than a few women, the promise of thin thighs in 30 seconds might just convince them to deal with the devil. Award-winning author Kathleen O'Reilly's The Diva's Guide to Selling Your Soul (Downtown Press) is a story for every woman who knows that getting celebrity-style skinny involves a pact with Lucifer‹or in this case, the silver-tongued Lucy. She's the trashiest gossip columnist in the city and she's working a pyramid scheme that's truly evil. The more clients our "innocent" heroine V recruits for her "Life Enrichment Program," the more of V's decadent desires will come true. Unfortunately, V soon discovers there maybe something worth saving in her after all, which means when she made the deal with the devil she may have truly damned herself - unless she can figure a way out.
About the author:
Kathleen O'Reilly is a transplanted Texan who now lives outside Manhattan. She's a size ten (size 8 in some female-friendly designers), does her own toilets, and has a Prada bag direct from Canal St. (Broadway and Canal, that is). She's the author of nine fiction books, one novella, and two computer programming books. Most of her days are spent yelling at her kids and telling her wonderful, patient husband that dinner will only be "in a few more minutes." On most days, it works.
My questions:
1. Have you always wanted to be a novelist? No. Never. Novelists didn't make enough money. I wanted to make money. Sadly, I realized I cannot ignore what I'm meant to do.
2. Is this your first book? If not, what else have you written? No. Actually it's my eleventh book. I published eight romances, one novella, and two computer programming books. I tend to lack focus.
3. What inspired you to write this book? We moved from Texas to New York, where everyone has a personal trainer, and they walk several miles in three inch heels. My self-esteem plummeted several levels of id. Very sad.
4. What do you do to feel inspired/motivated in order to write? Stare at my checkbook
5. What are you reading now? Currently reading Memorial Day by Vince Flynn. It's very good. I just finished Friday Night Lights and really enjoyed that as well. Very Texas.
6. What are some of your favorite books? It Had to be You by Susan Elizabeth Phillips. Anyone But You by Jenny Crusie. The Heart of Devin MacKade by the inimitable Nora.
7. What else do you do besides writing (i.e. do you have a day job)? I'm the resident slave in our household.
8. Where do you live? Lower Hudson Valley, New York. If anyone knows where the Tappan Zee bridge is, we're right on the West end of the bridge.
9. How does where you live impact (help/hurt) your writing? See #3. I anticipate lots of books in my future about New Yorkers suffering from low self-esteem.
10. What words of wisdom would you impart to an aspiring novelist? Don't let the "Dear Author" rejections get you down. It's hard work to make a career in publishing, and you have to have a rhino hide in order to keep a smile on your face.
11. What is your favorite word? Hope
12. What is your least favorite word? Twat
13. What turns you on? Success
14. What turns you off? Whining
15. What sound do you love? Church bells
16. What sound do you hate? Car horns
17. What is your favorite curse word? Shit
18. What profession other than yours would you like to attempt? A translator
19. What profession would you not like to participate in? Sales. AGH!
20. If Heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates? We've been expecting you.

| A friend of mine just called. She just got laid off. She said she called me because I am someone who "builds people up". That made me feel so good. Here I was thinking I haven't been a very good friend (workaholic/selfish/etc.). But I'm the one she called first. I was really touched. I guess I can be pretty good at pep talks.
Why am I so hard on myself? I may not be perfect, but I think I am a good friend.
Sake with thin mints is kind of a weird combination. It gives me this taste in my mouth -- kind of like almond extract. You know, the stuff you put in Christmas cookie frosting.
I think it's time for bed.
