This whole series (videos 1-6) is worth watching. They are talking about nutrition for autistic kids... but it is important information for all of us.

Did you know that fermenting foods increases the nutrition hundreds of times? Isn't that exciting?

Did you know that serotonin is manufactured in the gut? Isn't that amazing?

PS: The woman on the right, Natasha Campbell-McBride, reversed her son's autism through diet.

I read Jenny McCarthy's book, "Louder Than Words" last night.

It totally blew me away.

So moving and absolutely gripping. What I love about Jenny McCarthy is how forthright and honest she is. She calls it like she sees it. And she's not afraid to be herself. I really love and admire that in a person.

What she went through with her son's autism was so horrendous -- and it makes you so sad to realize that one out every 150 people in America are going through the same thing. I can't even imagine how hard it would be.

And yet it is becoming commonplace in America. How can this be? How can something so horrendous become commonplace?

We think we've got it so good here in America. We're nothing like the poor slobs living in Beirut, sleeping to the sound of bombs going off. We're so lucky to live in America.

Meanwhile one out of every 150 parents is going through a living hell. Seizures, (SIDS? -- there is speculation), tantrums and screaming all night long, loss of language and socialization, total inability to function.

I, like Jenny McCarthy, am absolutely convinced that this hell is avoidable and reversible. Not for everybody -- some kids can't recover. But I think most or at least many can. They may not be able to cure it completely but they can reverse it. And I think most or many people absolutely can avoid this nightmare.

The thing I loved the best about her book was her sentence (I'm paraphrasing), "This is not a book about autism. This is a book about faith."

Faith is believing when you have no evidence. Seeing in the dark. Faith is something I have worked on building in myself over the years. I am now an extremely faith-full person. Full of faith. I have total knowing (not just belief -- but knowing) that the Universe is conspiring in my favor. Pulling out all the stops for my good. I always know things will work out. And guess what, they always do. It's not always instant (in fact it rarely is), but it is always consistent.

And how cool is it that Jenny McCarthy (a very faith-full person herself) ended up with a guy like Jim Carrey? He strikes me as a pretty spiritual guy. Yes, they are celebrities and what do we really know, but I do know that he wrote a song called "Heaven Down Here" which was recorded by Tuck & Patti. It goes like this:

"Let's bring Heaven down here
I don't want to wait for the angels
Let's bring Heaven down here"

Yes, he really wrote that. I heard Patti say so herself on a local San Francisco talk show. (http://www.tuckandpatti.com/song_lear.html)

The other really cool thing about the book is how much diet and nutrition impacted Jenny's boy. The story she tells is nothing short of staggering.

Within TWO WEEKS of starting her son on a gluten-free, casein-free (wheat/dairy) diet, he said his first sentence. He had been able to say single words before the seizures happened at around the age of two. Words like "juice" and "milk" and "mama". And after doing some testing, they realized that he didn't even know what those words meant; he was just repeating his mother. Like she would say, "You want some juice?" and he would say, "Juice."

Then he had the MMR shot and had constant seizures. After the vaccine and subsequent seizures, he lost all language (this is a common pattern).

After just two weeks of being on the diet, he came up to his mom, tugged on her leg and said, "Want to go swimming".

Aside: Another diet story was in the introduction -- a doctor with an autistic son said that two weeks after giving him a daily supplement of cod liver oil, he regained eye contact and language.

After she got her son on the GFCF diet, Jenny learned about candida (an overgrowth of yeast in the gut, the same thing BTW that caused my arthritis and allergies when I was in my mid-twenties) which is common among autistic kids. She started him on Difulcan, which is a drug that kills the yeast. After that he went on massive doses of probiotics (they also kill off the yeast).

Jenny believes that her son was born with a weakened immune system, and the vaccines weakened it even more. Because his immune system was so weak (they found a doctor who had it tested and it was weaker than that of an AIDS patient), he continually got sick and had to take antibiotics, which killed off the good bacteria in his gut. The good bacteria is what kills off the yeast. When you don't have enough good bacteria, you get a yeast overgrowth. Which she believes is what causes the autism in many kids. (I agree with her.)

Anyhow, TWO WEEKS after he started on the Difulcan and was excreting massive amounts of yeast, they were watching a show on TV and he laughed at a joke. He had never done this before. Autistic kids don't "get" jokes.

Then he laughed again. This was the moment she knew she had saved her child. This was the first time, she said, that she had ever seen the real him.

Heartbreaking but joyous. I cried. Because she saved him. She loved him more than anything -- and most of all she believed. She had faith. She saw, even in the darkness.

What an amazing woman she is. I think she is going to help many, many people with this book. I think every parent and every aspiring parent should read this book. Everyone who is close to someone with an autistic child should read this book.

Anyone going through a tough time and needs a shot of faith should read this book.

Hurrah, Jenny McCarthy! I'm glad you are alive on this planet with us and I'm glad you are brave enough to be you. You are a wonderful spirit.

This is one of the most fascinating blog posts I have ever read:

http://yoursacredself.blogspot.com/2007/10/termites-dont-eat-healthy-trees.html

"The inner ecosystem of the body is the prime determinant in disease risk."

This makes a lot of sense, doesn't it?

I love the part about his trip to the Himalayas -- how the more sickly people were bitten by leeches and the healthier, sturdier people were not.

I also really like his explanation of cancer. The toxins and waste matter in the body have nowhere else to go. So they try to localize -- into tumors. Gosh, doesn't that make sense to you? It does to me.

Allopathic (Western medicine) has never made sense to me. OK, sure, having a C-section was helpful when my baby was breech. I do appreciate Western medicine during those times when surgery is required.

It's just that the standard protocol of suppressing and covering up symptoms instead of treating the cause DOES NOT WORK.

Which leads one to ask the question -- logically, how would injecting vaccines into nutritionally depleted, sickly kids with weak immune systems and very few helpful bacteria in their guts help make their immune systems stronger? It doesn't make any sense.

Many parents with autistic kids have been speaking out about the lack of good bacteria in their kids' digestive tracts. These kids tend to be allergic to dairy and wheat (casein and gluten). Uh, for the most part that's pasteurized dairy and refined flour, by the way. I have read the testimony of some parents who say their autistic children tolerate raw milk just fine.

I wonder it all of this relates to the phenomenon of all these kids being allergic to peanuts. I wonder if they had more good bacteria in their gut, they might not be allergic to everything.

Subject:Paul Offit, Mercenary of Merck
Time:12:32 am
Current Mood:[mood icon] hopeful
A mercenary is a person who takes part in an armed conflict who is not a national of a Party to the conflict and "is motivated to take part in the hostilities essentially by the desire for private gain and, in fact, is promised, by or on behalf of a Party to the conflict, material compensation substantially in excess of that promised or paid to combatants of similar ranks and functions in the armed forces of that Party".[1][2]

As a result of the assumption that a mercenary is exclusively motivated by money, the term "mercenary" carries negative connotations. There is a blur in the distinction between a "mercenary" and a "foreign volunteer", when the primary motive of a soldier in a foreign army is uncertain. For instance the French Foreign Legion and the Gurkhas are not mercenaries under the laws of war, but some journalists do describe them as mercenaries.[3][4]

Pay anyone enough money and they will espouse your propoganda.

Even if it destroys people.

Dr. Paul Offit (who appeared tonight on ABC World News saying that mercury in vaccinations is safe) is not immune to a Google search:

Dr. Offit lists that he is a consultant to Merck on an attachment to his OGE 450, but does not disclose whether or not he received any remuneration for his services.

Dr. Offit shares the patent on the Rotavirus vaccine in development by Merck and lists a $350,000 grant from Merck for Rotavirus vaccine development. Also, he lists that he is a consultant to Merck.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Offit

A consultant for pharmaceutical company, Merck, makers of vaccines, a company who has a vested interest in keeping the mercury in those vaccines.

How is this responsible journalism? Why did they not mention on ABC World News that this guy is a consultant for Merck?

Don't you love the internet? I sure do!

PS: I was in Target today, buying new bottles because the Avent bottles I have have been shown to leech toxic chemicals (I'll post about that later -- a whole new ball of wax) when some woman came up to me in one of the baby aisles, asked me about Kate. She was pushing her baby in a stroller. Turns out her little boy was the same age as Kate.

She said, "Oh, you use the same bottles we do!"

I said, "Not anymore. These leech toxic chemicals. I'm switching to something safer."

She said, "Oh, yeah, bisphenol A. I know about that."

"And you're not switching?"

"No. I'm not worried about it."

"Well, I'm not worried about it but I still think it's important to help her (nodding at Kate) be as healthy as she can be."

We went on to discuss teething rings and autism and vaccines -- she didn't seem phased by any of it.

In fact, when I said I was especially concerned about baby bottles and bisphenol A, due to the fact that baby bottles are heated up, she said, "Oh. I don't heat up his bottles. He drinks them cold."

"He drinks cold formula?"

"Yeah. He's had it that way since he was born."

"You didn't breastfeed?"

"Nope."

She seemed absolutely unfazed.

I wanted to shake her. Slap some sense into her. Explain to her about enzymes and acidophilus. About the immune system. About the pharmaceutical companies. About breastfeeding. All of it.

At the same time, I just felt sorry for her. Profoundly sorry for her. Only because -- and I might be wrong, he might be fine -- if something happens to her son, she will never forgive herself.

It's one thing to not know. You can never know everything. People make mistakes.

But TO KNOW. To know the poison by name. And to do nothing.

How could you live with yourself?

Then again, and this is probably the sad truth, maybe she doesn't know better. Maybe she's just confused due to all the disinformation. I know I was -- which is why we went ahead with Kate's initial vaccinations. I just wanted it to be easy. I didn't want to spend hours and hours researching on Google. You get tired and you just decide to go with the status quo.

But the status quo is that 1 in 150 kids get autism. That is a very very bad record.

I'd rather spend time googling. Maybe all those hours of googling can help me prevent it in my kid.

Subject:Jenny McCarthy on YouTube - Autism and Vaccines
Time:06:23 pm
Current Mood:[mood icon] excited
Here it is -- someone just posted this on YouTube:

Unfortunately this clip does not show the part of the show where she said she believes that it was the MMR vaccine that caused it. Nor does it show what she did to reverse her son's autism.

I don't care what anyone says. I believe her.

Even if you don't believe her that it was the vaccines that caused the autism, I think the fact that she CURED HER SON is proof of something.

Proof that autism is REVERSIBLE. If it is also PREVENTABLE, as she says (and others do too), then WHY risk your baby's health?

Here's another clip with Jenny on The View -- this one is really good:

I love her. I agree that she was destined to do what she is doing now -- speaking out about autism -- that it can be reversed through diet.

So awesome that she is speaking out -- and how wonderful that her son's autism was reversed.

I just wish they had let her talk more instead of questioning her so much!

I think one of the important points she makes is that it is not JUST vaccines that she believes causes autism -- it is part of many things that create a toxic overload. I also love her example of having a drink in a bar and how it affects your brain (the gut - brain connection). I think one of the things to remember is that all of this stuff is cumulative.

I know that what she is saying is true. The stuff about yeast in the gut.

When I was 24, I developed arthritis in my knees. It was spreading to my elbows and finger joints. I would wake up in the middle of the night from the pain in my joints. I also had respiratory allergies -- sneezing; itchy, watery eyes; runny nose. I also had sores on the insides of my nose. And a white "thrush" on my tongue.

These symptoms would not go away.

I read everything I could find about alternative health -- and finally came upon a book called The Yeast Connection by Dr. William Crook. He talked about how a toxic overload in the digestive tract (from broad spectrum antibiotics, pesticides, additives and chemicals in the food, etc. etc.) kill off the "friendly" bacteria (like acidophilus). Because it is the "friendly" bacteria's job to kill yeast, what happens is you get an overload of yeast in the system. And an overgrowth of yeast and a lack of good bacteria cause your immune system to go in the toilet. Hence, my auto-immune disorders: arthritis and allergies.

I went on antifungal treatment (garlic, a natural anti-fungal) to kill off the yeast in my system and also stopped eating sugar (sugar feeds the yeast). I also went off wheat because I was allergic to it (allergies beget more allergies). I also took lots of nutritional supplements to help build my immune system. Oh, and I took very high doses of acidophilus -- to repopulate my intestine with good bacteria.

Within a few days, my symptoms lessened about 80%. Within a few months, I was feeling great. It took a few years to fully recover but I no longer have any of those symptoms. I reversed my arthritis and my allergies.

Isn't it INTERESTING that the same thing that healed me of arthritis and allergies (anti-fungal treatment and change of diet, including reducing allergens and toxins and increasing friendly bacteria and immune boosters) healed Jenny McCarthy's son of autism?

Think there might be a connection here?

What she is saying is absolutely true. Of course the medical establishment is not going to get on board with it. The pharmaceutical companies are in bed with the medical establishment -- and they don't want people to know that they can cure themselves with food!

Think about the way we live in this country...

(1) Most people get their children vaccinated (which wipes out the good bacteria)
(2) Most people give their kids antibiotics at the first sign of infection (which wipes out the good bacteria)
(3) Many women don't breastfeed, and if they do, it's only for a few months because they have to go back to work (breastfeeding is a natural source of good bacteria -- formula does not have good bacteria)
(4) We eat tons and tons of high fructose corn syrup (TURBO sugar with lots of gross additives and who knows what else. It's in everything from ketchup to Coca Cola. It feeds the yeast -- which is essentially like pouring gasoline on a fire.)
(5) We continue to eat the same foods over and over again (wheat, dairy, soy, peanuts, oranges, etc.) instead of eating a diverse diet (quinoa, millet, various nuts and grains, etc)
(6) We drink pasteurized milk and eat pasteurized cheese (food that is DEVOID of good bacteria -- raw milk and cheese contain good bacteria -- but they are illegal in most states)
(7) We eat foods that are filled with toxins (pesticides, chemical additives, etc. -- the little good bacteria we have in our gut can't fight it all off)
(8) We deal with stress and pollution on a daily basis, which create toxins in our gut (again, our few measly good bacteria are not able to fight the toxins)
(9) Most of us are CONSTIPATED because we don't eat enough fiber (which keeps the toxins in our gut instead of moving them out -- which allows them to be absorbed into our bloodstream -- at which point they go to our brain)

It makes so much sense, doesn't it? There's more to say... but it's time for my dinner.

I'm really excited that people are waking up about toxic chemicals and pesticides and all these other things that are affecting our children in profound ways.

Subject:Scheduled naps and vaccinations
Time:05:14 pm
Current Mood:[mood icon] chipper
Guess what? Kate has regulated her naps!

That was easy!

She is now waking up between 5:30 and 6:30 (ugh a little early, I know) and she takes two naps -- one at 9 am and another at 1 pm. Each one lasts anywhere from 1-2 hours. She goes to bed between 5 and 6 pm.

It's fun because she can stay up longer these days -- so we can go out and do more. Today we went for breakfast in the morning at the local cafe, then in the afternoon we went out for a walk and then to the library. And it's so wonderful to know when she will go down for naps -- because now we can plan our day so much more easily.

In other news, I was very surprised yesterday watching Jenny McCarthy on the Oprah show. She basically said that she believes that vaccinating her child caused autism. I know this controversy has been going on for a while. I read all the websites month ago -- before Kate was born. I ended up throwing up my hands and figured we'd just go ahead with the vaccinations. It's all so overwhelming. For every website you find saying not to vaccinate, there are five others saying that you should, and saying that they have proven that there is no link between vaccinations and autism.

Well, actually it has NOT been proven. The CDC (Center for Disease Control) even made a statement for Oprah saying that they don't know if there is a connection. This is different from what they said before -- which was that there was no connection.

The thing is, watching Jenny McCarthy really opened my eyes. She showed pictures of her son before and after the MMR shot (this is the shot, given at about a year to a year and a half, most people attribute to causing autism -- although they say it is cumulative). Even I could see the difference. He looked like a happy baby before the shot -- after the shot, he was, as she said, dead in the eyes. She talked about how he started having seizures right after he had that shot -- and after that he completely changed.

This same story has been repeated by lots and lots of other parents who went through the same thing. Seizures, stomach pain, sudden withdrawal of affection and loss of language. Kids who were talking and hitting all the other developmental milestones suddenly stopped talking and stopped interacting and lost control of motor skills, etc. After they had the shot.

They say it's mercury poisoning. I found a website listing all the symptoms of mercury poisoning and all the symptoms of autism. They were exactly the same. Loss of language, flapping of hands, etc.

Obviously not all children get autism. But if there is a chance of Kate getting it, that is not a risk I am willing to take. If the CDC says they don't know, how can that be safe? The rate for autism in the US used to be 1 in 10,000. Now it is 1 in 150.

Oh and autism increased 250% between 1987 and 1993. They introduced the MMR shot in 1988. Coincidence?

I think it's a crap shoot. Plus who knows what other stuff vaccinations do to you? Kate has been up to date with her shots thus far. I hope she's OK.

Obviously you can't just listen to what your doctor says anymore. You have to do your own research.

Anyway the good news is Jenny McCarthy's little boy is doing really well. I guess they did nutritional and chelation therapy, as well as play therapy -- and he's almost normal now. She stressed that autism is PREVENTABLE and REVERSIBLE.

I really think it's brave and awesome of her to share this with the world. I know the pharmaceutical industry is extremely powerful (using their lobbies and money to produce propaganda, as well as their own medical studies, much like the tobacco industry). I am going to buy her book.

I also ordered a couple of other books on vaccinations at the library. I'm going to do a lot more research before I let Kate get any more vaccinations. I'm leaning toward no more. She's definitely not getting the MMR.

Okay, I gotta go work on Seth's website now. I got nothing done yesterday since I was feeling sick.
